Boilermaker

Listen to that song by the Jesus Lizard, and the general feel of it should be parallel to how I feel now.

By the gods above, I'm busy. I'll be less busy soon. I imagine around the beginning of November. Just in time to start prepping for my final exams...

Bier, Bier, Bier

Now that I have a moment to myself, I think I'll write something here.

Madness abound here in Vancouver! Well... Not the madness one would find in something as (say) a Lovecraft story, but mad none the less.

I've been busy; busy with school; busy with friends; busy with work, but unfortunately not busy with painting or gaming. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that the friends I have like me, and that my job is as great as it is, but I need to sit down and put brush to metal.

Other than that, I have a ticket to GZA the Genius on Thursday, and I'm excited to see a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan, which is my favorite Hip-Hop act. I'm also going to see the Jesus Lizard on the 20th of October.

Yesterday Oktoberfest happened to me, which is the best way to describe going to a Bavarian hall, and surrounding yourself with people in lederhosen, and the pools of beer they force you to drink. That's right, I was forced. I was also forced into a drinking competition in which I came in 2nd last. That's right, bitches... 2nd last!

My Body Is A Cage

When I use the word "daily", its context is more of a location than a temporal schedule. Today is a day - in fact, the word "day" is within it - and so was the 29th when this was last updated. Thus, in effect, I post daily.

On to more pressing matters. I have returned from Olde Europe, and the land of Old Glory, and have successfully survived my first week of school (which was made all the more easy, considering I only had one day of school in that week), returning unscathed, save for $2 billion tuition, and $300 on school books (one of those figures is a gross exaggeration, the other is a sad truth). I have to say, the sheer amount of words I have to read for school is titanic. I expect I'll soon grow tired of reading altogether.

But enough of that bull-junk. The dark embrace of the Internet calls, and I'm not one to upset Internets.

Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle

Hey everyone. Made it to Seattle fine. Forgot the password to my grandparent's dial-up, so I've been bumming off free Wi-fi whenever I can. Right now I gotta go, but I'll get updates ASAP.

Coney Island Baby

The New York subway system ("the trains") seem like a system designed for sensory overload, but by accident. When you get off the air conditioned train, you're hit by a wave of heat, that seems as hot as the inside of your body. After that, the sound of the train departing the platform fills the small tunnel with sound, not letting any other sound reach your ears. Finally you arrive out of the tunnel, and you seem in another world. A few minutes ago you were uptown, now you're downtown. Where once you were in the Upper West Side, you're now in the Lower East Side.

Today I went to Katz famous deli for breakfast, and had one of the best pastrami on rye's I've ever had. Following that I wandered around the lower east side (an apparently 'punk' neighborhood), and stumbled upon Ludlow and Rivington where the Beastie Boys took a photo for the cover of their 2nd album Paul's Boutique. Of course I snapped a photo (link to come when I get around to uploading it), though not a very good one. I then went to Rockefeller Center and went all the way to the top. Tomorrow, I have planned the Statue of Liberty, and maybe the Village Vanguard Jazz Club.

I was going to write more, and make this more interesting to read, but I'm suddenly struck with a tiredness, that can only mean (given the time it is here (2:00)) that I'm off my jetlag. However I gotta get up at 6 tomorrow (er... Today) so I should be off to bed.

All My Friends in New York

While taking the 'Circle Line Sightseeing' tour around Manhattan with my two cousins (or, dad's cousins) from Brooklyn, I met some Germans from Bavaria. They seemed really nice, and gladly gave them some Euro coins. Afterward we went to Chinatown and ate some very authentic Chinese food, some of the first I've eaten since leaving Vancouver for Germany. I've eaten Chinese food ~3 times since then, but this time it actually felt like I was sitting in a Van City Chinatown restaurant.

Meeting the Germans made me feel my first homesickness for Germany; up 'till now I've felt as though I'm on another big vacation and will return to Freiburg at any moment. I wont though, not for awhile. Instead of being a bad homesickness, it was a good one (if that makes any sense). I felt proud of what I accomplished during my time there, specifically my language, and my ability to survive in a foreign country, speaking a foreign language, on a foreign continent.

Tomorrow I'm gonna go to Coney Island, then maybe go to the Village Vanguard jazz club and see (hear) some jazz. Tuesday will be a Central Park/Museum/(maybe) Broadway day; and Wednesday will be me visiting the various neighborhoods in Manhattan. Thursday I leave for Seattle. I'm sure I'll miss New York terribly.

YEAH! New York

So New York is turning out to be a blast so far. Well, a blast for me. I'm sure some people would prefer to go clubbing, or bar-hopping when staying in one of the biggest cities on the planet, but with no one to do those things with, I feel more comfortable doing what I've been doing, and see where it takes me.

I walk quite a bit.

I've just been walking through the city, and people-watching. Today I saw the Chrysler building, Ground Zero, Little Italy, Chinatown, The Stock Exchange, Times Square, and the UN. There's still much I want to see, but I figure for the first full day, it's not that bad.

New York is quickly becoming one of my favorite cities that I've ever been to. With a huge city like New York, you'd think that it'd be pretty impersonal, but as I walk through the streets, and (especially) sit in the parks, I notice the groups of people here, that get together to hang out in the park, or play basketball/Soccer with each other, sometimes with 20 or more at a time. I was pleasantly surprised by the sense of community in this city, that by all means should be too big to manage this type of sense.

It's also fucking hot. It's been about 31 degrees here, and stupidly humid. I also insist on wearing pants which makes matters worse. But at least I look good while sweating my bag off.

Alright, well, right now I'm going to try and get something to eat for dinner, and try to not fall asleep. It's only 20:25, but because I'm still on Freiburg time

Intro

Welcome to Musik Non-Stop. It's not only about MusiC, but it has alot to do with it. In fact, this blog is about many of my interests ('cause it's mine), such as technology, politics, culture, Literature, Art, and anything else that strikes my fancy. I'll try and keep this interesting, and not just make it some online rag that I splooge words upon, however some of this can't be avoided as this is a blog, and it's on something called the Internet.

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read this, check out my other blog: The Wargamer if you're into non-electronic gaming, and check out the other websites I link to on the right, as they're usually better done than this, and can be more informative.
